KariKari Estate Winery

KariKari Estate Winery is just 2 minutes from Whatuwhiwhi Holiday Park and is a 'must-visit' if you enjoy the finest of wine and gourmet cuisine.

Northland is the birthplace of New Zealand wine, with Reverend Samuel Marsden having planted the first vines in Northland in 1819. Just under 200 years later Karikari Estate Vineyard opened its doors to become New Zealand's northern-most winery located here on the beautiful Karikari Peninsula at Doubtless Bay.

The first vines were planted in 1998 and with the production of its first vintage in 2003 KariKari Estate boasts some 25 hectares of Syrah, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Franc, Malbec, Pinotage, Chardonnay, Viognier and Semillon. Another 16 hectares were planted in 2004 including grape varieties such as Montepuliciano, a variety that enjoys this regions climate.

The Tasting Room and Kitchen/Espresso is open 7 days between 11am and 4pm

For wine tasting and fine food. KariKari Estate will also open for groups in the evenings on prior arrangement.

Carrington Restaurant

Carrington offers gourmet dining with food created by Mark Oliver, a Michelin Star trained chef. Their menus are created daily and focus firstly on food grown on Carrington Farms (Black Angus beef, native eel, honey, vegetables and fresh herbs) and then showcase the abundance of fine produce available in our district.

Scallops form the beds of Karikari Beach, oysters from Rangaunu Harbor, mussels from Houhora Harbor, cheese from Mahoe and Pukepoto, fresh fish from Manganoui, fresh Saffron from the Hokianga and many other small producers. This fine produce is accompanied by the fine wines of Karikari Estate Vineyards and Winery.

Casual Diners are welcome but reservations are essential
